3 Boho Bride Beauty Ideas
There are some people I always knew I wanted to work with for my wedding and my good friend Eva Moshouris, hair stylist and makeup artist, is one of them.
Eva and I frequently worked together at the ideeli photo studio, the same job where I met this month’s Neon-trepreneur, Rachel!
A few birthdays back, Eva gave me the b-day princess treatment after we wrapped shooting and did my hair for my party that night. I always knew she was talented, but when I saw how her worked looked on my hair, I was enamored. I swear in that moment, I knew I wouldn’t want anyone else touching my hair on my special day.
Not to mention, Eva is just a straight up awesome person. No BS, super funny, and a giant heart. Another pisces friend, she and I get along effortlessly. I know with Eva by my side that day, my nerves will be calm and we’ll be having a hell of a great time.
I thought it would be fun to document my hair and makeup trial with Eva, as we tried three different looks before settling on a final (surprise!) decision.
LOOK #1: FLOWER CHILD
What can I say, I simply can’t help myself when it comes to flower crowns. I spontaneously made this daisy crown from a bouquet of fresh flowers at my apartment while Eva was curling my hair. #Multitasking. I’ve been leaning towards wearing one for my wedding so it only made sense to test it out during our trial.
This look is quintessential flower child. Long flowing locks, fresh skin, rosy cheeks, and a light pink lip. This combo felt closest to my everyday self–albeit with more makeup and much neater hair. While I certainly felt comfortable and beautiful, we both felt we could do something more unique for the big day.
LOOK #2: WATERFALL-ING IN LOVE
Look #2 involved taking look #1 up a notch by creating a more dramatic eye and adding a waterfall braid to the back of my hair. Let me tell you, I am completely in love with this hairstyle! Turns out that not cutting my hair for almost a year is paying off, as the length totally makes the look.
The one con is that the braid defeats the purpose of a flower crown (or vice versa), as the flowers would conceal the gorgeous style. As far as the makeup, we decided the pinky-purples were a little too evening for our daytime farm wedding and decided to switch up the color palette.
LOOK #3: SIDE HUSTLE
For our final look, we had to try out an up-do. When I was on the hunt for my wedding dress, everyone said that I had to try on a poofy dress, just to see. I think the same goes for up-dos. You may be pleasantly surprised by how much you actually like one on yourself, plus it keeps your hair out of your face all night AND holds up way better than a simple head of curls.
I absolutely LOVE how Eva did this hairstyle–the side bun, the pinned up curls, the braid effect without an actual braid in there (I think?!). It felt so elegant and special. Once we added the berry lip and went for a more subtle eye, I felt red carpet ready!
As I said, though, the final decision is a surprise. I’m so super excited about what we settled on and cannot wait to share the final big day look with you!
P. S. My friends at TL Communications sent over some amazing products for us to use for my trial. These are the ones we used (and lovvvved) in the looks above (in addition to some of Eva’s tried-and-true favorites).
