5 Funky Ways to Decorate your Home for the Holidays
With Thanksgiving coming up next week (how fast was that?!), I think it’s safe to say we have officially entered holiday season! Hoorayy!! I freaking love this time of year for so many reasons, one of them being that it’s a fantastic excuse to bust out some extra flair and decorate your home like ya just don’t care! (I really should have been a rapper… Ha! ;P)
Hopefully most of you saw that yesterday we launched The Neon Holiday Shop over in the store and filled it with tons of pom pom and tassel ornaments and garlands to help make all your festive decorating dreams come true! Today, I’m showing off these adornments in action by offering up five fun decorating ideas for your playful eclectic home. Are you ready guys?!
Make a garland wall-scape
If you’re looking for an inventive way to decorate an empty wall, consider a wall-scape of layered garlands, pom poms and tassels. Go crazy hanging up festive ornaments and other tchotchkes for a whimsical look!

Trim your house plant
Quick story: Being that I’m Jewish (as are both of my parents), I’ve never once had a Christmas tree. Growing up we did, however, have a beautiful leafy tree that lived in our house year-round, so when holiday time approached, my parents liked to decorate it twinkle lights. We called them the “Holiday Lights” and even sang a song about them. (I can’t make this stuff up…) So last year when we found ourselves with battery powered twinkle lights–a byproduct of our Stranger Things alphabet wall Halloween costumes–I couldn’t help but remember our holiday lights and decided to decorate our snake plant.
Snake plants are pretty sturdy beings so as long as you use light, gentle objects, decorating them is pretty safe. This lightweight tassel garland fits the bill and looks so stinking cute here, if I do say so myself.

Cover a mini Christmas tree entirely in pom poms
What’s better than one pom pom ornament? An entire TREE full of them! And since I won’t suggest you go out and get a hundred new ornaments, why not fill a small colorful tree with them for a pomtastic punch?

Hang garlands across your TV stand
If you don’t have a mantle on which to hang a garland, a TV stand, credenza or bookcase are also ideal spots. It doesn’t even have to be a special occasion to display a garland here — I love to leave them up just for funzies!

Create playful holiday vignettes on your bookcases and shelves
This may not be an original idea, but what I will encourage you to do is to get out of your traditional Christmas or Chanukah color palette and infuse bright colors like hot pink and yellow into your holiday vignettes. Remember: items look best in groups of threes in varying heights and textures!
