Granny Square Cardigan Colors

Currently experiencing color decision paralysis? We’ve curated four different yarn bundles that will stitch together beautifully!

Granny Square Cardigan Sizing

Our cardigan pattern & bundles are available in three sizes:

  • Size 1: ~15″ back width
  • Size 2: ~20″ back width
  • Size 3: ~25″ back width

This measurement is taken across the row of squares where the back panel meets the armhole seam. If you’re unsure what size to go with, try measuring a well-fitting garment you already own for reference!

We’ve also included tips in the pattern on how to decrease/increase this width by adjusting the rows of your squares if you’d like to it to fall somewhere in between the suggested sizes.

Hi, I’ve been obsessed with this pattern for a while and finally ready to go for it! I’m just not sure which size to make and want to make sure I order the right bundle. I recently made my first sweater and it turned out HUGE and don’t want to make that mistake again. I think I’m measuring about 15” across the back, so a size 1, but I’m currently an XL in most women’s clothing so I feel like that can’t be right. Any tips?

Hi April! I’m so happy you’re taking on the cardigan pattern! It really is such a beautiful piece, and well worth the love that goes into it. <3
Based on that measurement, it does sound like Size 1 would fit your needs. It's hard to say exactly, as everyone's tension when crocheting is different, so if your stitches are tighter/looser, your squares might be a slightly different size. The good news is that the pattern includes loads of instruction on how to tweak the design to fit you perfectly. For example, you may find that adding another round to each of the squares gives you a width you're happier with, or adding another entire row of squares to the back panel, etc.

Once you have a few squares made, we recommend lining them up across the back of well-fitting sweater to give you an idea if your sizing direction is on track (keeping in mind that the join method will add a bit of width as well). I hope that's helpful! You can always shoot an email over to hi@theneonteaparty.com if you have any further questions/run into any trouble throughout the process!

Hi I’d love to make this. I have a huge stash of double knit. Will that be ok for this please ?
    Many thanks
