Crochet - Blending Omegacryl

Blending Omegacryl colors while crocheting is an awesome and easy way to create a totally unique and custom-looking crochet creation! Omegacryl is a fine acrylic yarn, so you can easily combine strands of multiple colors to create your own color blend to reflect your unique style.

Depending on your project and the size stitch you’re going for, you’ll choose a number of Omegacryl yarn colors to fit your size needs. You’ll also pair the number of colors you're using with the correct hook that is sized to match your total yarn thickness and your desired stitch tightness (aka gauge).

Here we’ve created a guide to help you choose your hook size and the number of colors to use for your project!

A Note about Omegacryl

Omegacryl three strands by color

Omegacryl yarn comes as three separate threads that you hold together and treat as one unit. When referring to the number of colors below, please note that each color will have three skinny threads.

A Note About Gauge

Understanding Gauge - 1

The less yarn you use with a particular hook, the looser the gauge (aka space between stitches) will be. The more yarn you use with that same hook, the tighter the gauge will be. You’ll notice this when comparing the different swatches shown for each hook, below. To learn more about the relationship between yarn, hook and and gauge sizes, visit this page!
