Also referred to as the invisible stitch, slip stitch (abbreviated: sl st) is great to use when joining two crocheted panels. Slip stitch is also used to finish off and secure a project.
How to Slip Stitch Along a Foundation Chain or the Edge of a Project

step one
Start with a foundation chain (or the outside row of a project).

step two
From the foundation chain insert hook in the 2nd stitch from the hook (not including loop on hook).

step three
Yarn over, meaning wrap your yarn around your hook, crossing over the front diagonally upwards from right to left.

step four
Pull the yarn through the stitch and the loop on the hook.

step five
Slip stitch made!

step six
If doing a row of slip stitches, continue slip stitching to the end of your row!
