Lesson: How to Tie Dye a Two-Tone Spiral Pattern
A classic tie dye pattern with an unexpected twist!
Jump to section:
Dye the front side of your item in a single color as shown OR follow step 5 here for a multi-color spiral.
If working with a single color, apply the lighter color dye all over the front side of your item. Don't forget the edges!
Flip the bundle over, and apply your darker color to the back side, covering any available white space.
Once the back side is covered, flip the item back over so that the darker color stays on the back folds, and doesn't seep toward the lighter color(s).
PRO TIP: When setting the item aside for the dye to set, place the item with the lighter color(s) side UP.
Apply your new-found skill to create awesome things! Here’s a round-up of project inspiration.
